National Philanthropy Day in Maryland annually celebrates the great contributions of philanthropy and those people active in our philanthropic community here in Maryland.  Through this annual event, we encourage all people to rededicate themselves to the principle of giving.  Learn more about the 2017 event.


Now Accepting Nominations for the Harford County Celebration of Philanthropy

Submission Deadline: Friday, December 1

The Harford County Celebration of Philanthropy was created by AFP Maryland to give recognition to those who are truly agents of change in our county.  Recipients of these awards are nominated and selected by a committee consisting of Harford County members of AFP Maryland.

These awards are presented to individuals, families, businesses and organizations in Harford County whose exceptional generosity demonstrates outstanding civic and charitable responsibility, and whose example encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles. 

Categories include: Philanthropist of the Year, Outstanding Youth Fundraiser, and the Terry Troy Award for Volunteer Service. (learn more)

 

2018 Call for Presentations


speaker1Share your knowledge, ideas, and experience through participation as a presenter at Fundraising Day in Maryland or one of our other educational programs hosted by the chapter throughout the year. Presenting a seminar or workshop is also an excellent opportunity to earn CFRE credits

We are actively seeking presenters and topics for 75-90 minute educational sessions in 2018; presentations may be a stand-alone session or grouped in tracks with similar subjects or target audiences. If you have an existing presentation or a concept for a workshop on one of these subjects or a related topic, you may submit a proposal at any time during the year to AFP Maryland Chapter Administrator,  marci@kingmgmt.org.  

Proposals for sessions at Fundraising Day in Maryland must be submitted by December 15, 2017 for consideration.  Proposals for other educational programs are accepted throughout the year. (learn more)

Nov 20 - The Fundraising Effectiveness Project Releases Third Quarter Benchmark Report for Nonprofit Fundraisers
(Nov. 20, 2017) The Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP) released its third quarter findings and announced that both donor giving and donor retention is on a continued downward trend. FEP’s third quarter report indicates year-to-date giving through September 2017 is down by -4% compared to the same time period in 2016 and that donor retention is currently at its lowest point in five years, with an overall year-to-date retention of 45%. ... more >
