National Philanthropy Day in Maryland celebrates the great contributions of philanthropy and those people active in our philanthropic community here in Maryland.  Through this annual event, we encourage all people to rededicate themselves to the principle of giving.  This year we will honor Mark and Patricia Joseph as Outstanding Philanthropists, and the Kahlert Foundation as the Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation for 2017.  We will also recognize Unsung Heroes and Outstanding Youth Fundraisers, as well as the Maryland Chamber of Commerce's Corporate Philanthropy Awards at this event.

Increasing Board Engagement

Thursday, October 12

Board Members Don’t Have Magic Wands Either.

When we successfully engage our board members in meaningful fundraising activities, the effect can raise money, boost morale and build skills. Stop whining that your board is not doing enough to help raise money. Do you know why? Have you just assumed they know where to fit in and that they know what to do? Do you know how best to support them?  This workshop explores successful strategies around engaging and inspiring board members to be excellent, well-prepared brand-ambassadors and resource-attractors for your mission. Drawing on Jennifer’s experience as professional staff fundraiser and board coach/trainer, this interactive workshop will give you concrete and bite-sized ideas to implement back at the office. You might brush your own skills too. (approved for 1.5 CE points)

Presenter:  Jennifer Pelton, CFRE, Director of Development, Public Justice Center
